The Art of Photography

What makes my wedding photography so special? Check this out!

JPG or "Finished"

I am asked by almost every bride I meet, "Do you offer a disc of JPG's?" My answer is always the same..."Is that what you really want?"

If you look at the images above you will see two distinct portraits. The first is the JPG, right out of the camera. Which in some cases is fine. However, when it comes to capturing an image, I am not always able to control the lighting, distractions or emotions being portrayed while working on location.

I use a term called "finishing the image" where I transform the images from what the camera sees to what the bride or couple feels in the moment. Through warming the skin tones or using subtle techniques I remove distractions, or add enhancements to allow one's eye to focus on the emotion of the moment.

The camera captures the image, the artist captures the richness of the story.

Trends have led many people to believe that the best value is a disc of hundreds or even thousands of images. Although I may offer a disc of unfinished JPG's, most of my clients have come to value the artistry that I put into "finishing" their images.
